Swansea City striker fires goals warning ahead of Middlesbrough clash
Middlesbrough make the long trip to Championship rivals Swansea on Monday afternoon.
Middlesbrough will face a tough test as they look to bounce back from their Good Friday defeat against Millwall in their visit to Swansea City on Monday.
The Welsh outfit have little to play for during the remainder of the Championship season as they sit 13 points clear of the relegation zone and 11 points adrift of the play-off places with just six games remaining in the campaign. Vitor Matos’ side have proven to be somewhat unpredictable in recent weeks after winning four, drawing four and losing two of their last ten league games.
However, in Slovenia international Zan Vipotnik, they have one of the most prolific strikers in the second tier after the former Bordeaux frontman plundered his way to 18 goals in 38 league games this season. The 24-year-old found the net in Friday’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Sheffield United to move two goals clear in the race for the Championship golden boot - and he is determined to keep scoring during the remainder of the season despite stressing the need to put his team first.
He told the Swans club website: "It's nice to help the team with the goal, it's the first penalty I've scored this season. I'm glad we could get the point in front of the travelling fans. Our fans, they always travel in big numbers and the journey from Swansea is very long, I hope they enjoyed the result. We showed the mentality, we were two goals down in the second half, then the substitutes really changed the game positively.
"Adam scoring and getting an assist was amazing, then Jisung getting that all important equaliser at the end. A really positive message for everyone on the pitch and off the pitch that we can always fight back. If I'm honest, I would say the Golden Boot is on my mind, but I know how the league is. There's not many games left to go and anything can change, I just want to keep taking it game by game and keep helping the team."
