Boro will play in the second tier for a fourth consecutive season after avoiding relegation to League One under Neil Warnock.

Friday’s announcement means most clubs have seven weeks to prepare for the new campaign, which is set to conclude on May 9, 2021 - before the play-offs.

Boro are still yet to announce who their manager will be next season after talks were held between chairman Steve Gibson and Warnock on Thursday.

The Teessiders will have to act quickly to put plans in place, especially as the summer transfer window will open fully on Monday, July 27.

The EFL’s statement said work around fixture scheduling is underway and details will be announced in due course following the 2019/20 Championship play-offs which will conclude Tuesday, August 4.
