During this time, Newcastle can recruit permanent and loan signings, as well as free agents.

How will Euro 2020 impact the summer transfer window?

The 2020 European Championships will take place whilst the summer transfer window is open.

Naturally, this could delay potential transfers involving players competing at Euro 2020, particularly for Premier League clubs.

Indeed, it also gives players the opportunity to impress on the big stage and attract interest from elsewhere.

Will there be a second transfer window similar to last summer?

It has been considered but there is no definitive answer yet.

Last summer, the main summer transfer window closed on October 5 but deals between Premier League and EFL clubs were permitted through to October 16.

At present, there will only be one summer transfer window and that is from Wednesday, June 9 to Tuesday, August 31.

When do the Premier League and EFL campaigns begin?

The Premier League season starts over the weekend of August 14. That means the campaign will be running for two-and-a-half weeks before the transfer window closes.

Transfer windows in major leagues across Europe such as France, Spain, Germany and Italy also close on Tuesday, August 31.

However, their transfer windows open a few weeks after England’s on Thursday, July 1.

What about the January transfer window?

The 2022 January transfer window will open on Saturday, January 1 and close at 11.59pm on Monday, January 31.
