Surprising link with former wideman

Boro have been linked with former winger Sammy Ameobi who will become a free agent this summer.

The 29-year-old will see his contract at Nottingham Forest expire following three years at the City Ground.

According to Football Insider, Boro have opened talks to re-sign the Newcastle United academy product, who had a spell on loan at the Riverside in 2013.

Hull doubts over Luke O’Nien

Another player who has been linked with Boro in recent weeks is Sunderland’s Luke O’Nien.

The 26-year-old has been offered a new deal at the Stadium of Light but is reportedly attracting interest from several clubs.

One of the teams credited with interest is Hull City, yet The Hull Daily Mail report that the League One title winners expect him to move elsewhere.

It’s been claimed that Hull fear the interest from elsewhere means O'Nien will not fit into their strict wage structure.

Burnley agree fee for Stoke defender

Finally, defender Nathan Collins appears to be on the verge of joining Burnley from Stoke for a reported £12million fee.

The Clarets have been credited with interest in Boro centre-back Dael Fry, and saw an offer for the player rejected two years ago, yet the Teessiders have been adamant he’s not for sale.

Collins, 20, made 22 Championship appearances for Stoke last season.
