It has been claimed the Republic of Ireland international is in London to complete his medical today, while the Mail understands there are still some finer details to be resolved.

It’s understood negotiations could move quickly, though, with a deal in the region of £4million expected to be competed in the next few days.

The reported fee hasn’t gone down too well with some supporters after Boro paid £5million for the stopper in 2017.

But while many are disappointed about the keeper’s imminent exit, the emergence of Aynsley Pears has eased concerns.

Here’s how some fans reacted on social media.

@JaySnowballs23: If £4 million is such a low price Darren Randolph why hasn't another team came in and bid 5?

@ChiswickFox: Can someone please explain how we are selling a player who is now better for less money that we paid when he has minimum 5 years of his career left? Bizarre

@boroloony: If selling Randolph allows us to pay Ayala and Howson what they want, I'm all for it tbh. Get them deals tied up

@bainesy1985: £4 million for randolph is not enough for me but @Boro clearly looking at wages saved as well be sad to se him go if true @RandzOfficial

@kelbelhartley: Disappointed randolph is leaving. Even more disappointed at the price we are selling him for. But in Pears we trust, he's put in some solid performances recently and the team are thriving. Hope Randolph has a jacket to keep him warm on that bench

@BlainAllinson96: Great GK but also the wrong side of 30 and most importantly, he wants away … So long as the £4m is put back in I’m not overly disappointed tbh

@ianh_84: £4m for Darren Randolph? Can't help but think Boro are getting mugged off a little bit because as a goalkeeper he is better than half of the Premier Leagues number 1's and he is much better than just warming the bench at West Ham

@Smithy_MFC84: If Randolph does leave I'll be majorly disappointed, but not as downhearted as I might have been a few weeks back. The form of Aynsley Pears has been outstanding, and the blow of Randolph leaving has been softened by that.

@LA_Johnson4: Welcome to the wonderful world of @Boro transfer dealings, just imagine buying a goalkeeper off a club, for instance, say, Darren Randolph... Watching him develop into a better goalkeeper and then thinking it’s a great idea to sell him for less than we paid. #madness

@SmoggyScholars: Gutted about Darren Randolph leaving. Best keeper in the #championship hands down. But cant blame him for wanting another crack at the #PL Wish him all the best!
