Boro were beaten 1-0 by Blackburn at the weekend in a game which was overshadowed by an injury suffered by defender Dael Fry.

The 23-year-old received a kick in the face from Rovers defender Jarrad Branthwaite which left a nasty cut below the Boro man’s eye and required stitches.

Fry didn’t need hospital treatment but his eye was left badly swollen, with Boro posting a picture from their Twitter account on Sunday evening.

The Teessiders were without regular right-back Anfernee Dijksteel against Blackburn, with Warnock saying afterwards: "He wasn't ready today. It was just an illness type thing, nothing major.”

Boro will also have to assess Marcus Tavernier who was forced off in the final ten minutes of the match.

Warnock was unsure about the severity of the setback when asked about Tavernier in his post-match press conference.
