Boro took the lead eight minutes before half-time in South Wales after an excellent header from George Saville.

Yet the hosts drew level 20 minutes from the end after Kieffer Moore’s header was turned home by Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo from close range.

The result means Boro have gone six games unbeaten and have taken four points from back-to-back away games following Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Bristol City.

When asked about the match, Warnock said: “It was a good point but I'm obviously disappointed that we didn’t get three.

“We’ve been on the rough end of a few decisions this last week. We’ve done 1,000 miles travelling.

“Last weekend it was a linesman's decision when we scored a good goal. Today it's a certain block for the goal, Will Vaulks blocks Saville and the guy has a free header and they scramble it in.

"It disappoints me that I'm let down by officials who should be better than that."

Warnock knew what to expect from Cardiff after his successful three-year spell at the club, which saw the Bluebirds win promotion to the Premier League.

Boro dropped to 13th in the Championship after this result, yet the Teessiders have played the top four sides in the table after seven games.

"I think it's been pleasing since Watford,” added Warnock. “I've enjoyed every game.

"The lads are playing with a smile on their face and it's nice because they're all mucking in, and it’s great to come away with a result."

Saville’s goal came from a well-worked set-piece after Marcus Tavernier’s delivery – something Boro had been working on.

“We worked on that,” replied Warnock when asked about his side’s goal. “It’s always nice when you work on something the day before.

“We felt that was the only vulnerable part of their play really, they are so good in the air. They are all my lads really so we knew it would be difficult.

“We decided to take short kicks all the time because we wouldn’t have won a header in the box.”
