Middlesbrough made two new signings on transfer deadline day – yet playmaker Ravel Morrison and centre-back Harold Moukoudi won’t be available for this afternoon’s meeting with Blackburn Rovers at the Riverside.

The pair arrived on loan from Sheffield United and St Etienne respectively, with both deals completed well before the 11pm deadline.

Yet EFL rules state that “all paperwork relating to a transfer must be submitted to and approved by the governing body by 12 noon on the day prior to the date of such match.”

There are no changes to this rule on deadline day, which means Moukoudi, 22, and Morrison, 26, will have to wait until next weekend to make their Boro debuts.
