Aldershot Town are the latest club to take a significant step to reduce costs amid the National League suspension as they have announced that all staff are to take reduced salaries.

The wage cut includes all players, management and office staff and was influenced by the Football Association’s decision to suspend Premier League and EFL football until the end of April with clubs unable to generate matchday income.

A club statement read: “We appreciate to all those involved that this hasn’t been an easy to decision to make.

“This also continues with our other additional cost-cutting when we have no activity at the ground, as we look to keep pushing forward and continuously look ahead to our next game soon.”

Elsewhere, Notts County and Yeovil Town are set to receive the remainder of their EFL parachute payments in full as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The two sides were relegated from League Two in 2019 are entitled to £607,000 in parachute payments, according to Nottinghamshire Live.

The EFL has put a £50 million package in place to help support its clubs financially though there is no such plan in place in the National League as it stands.

The National League will seek government support with chief executive Mike Tattersall requesting a £17 million fund to help keep its 68 member clubs afloat through the crisis.
