Wrexham and Barrow are two more National League clubs who have been hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

Half of the National League’s matches went ahead over the weekend with the other half being postponed due to concerns over the virus. Wrexham’s match at Barrow was one of the games called-off with players from both sides showing symptoms and going into self-isolation.

Bluebirds boss Ian Evatt told the North-West Evening Mail: “We’ve got at least three with symptoms, so why take the risk?

“There might be more cases to come out in our squad in the next day or so and the advice is that if you’ve been in contact with someone who’s shown symptoms then you’ve got to self-isolate.

“There was no way we could envisage [Saturday’s] game going ahead.”

The Dragons came to the mutual agreement with Barrow to postpone the match and go against the National League’s decision to allow games to go ahead as planned.

"They have done the online checks and have been told to self-isolate for seven days," Wrexham manager Dean Keates told the Evening Leader.

"One has a fever, two of them have coughs, a headache and sore throats. The one who went down on Friday has said he does not feel too bad.

“I was surprised they [the National League] did not follow suit with the Premier League, like the Football League did.”

Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor said training and preparations will continue until the club are told otherwise after his side drew 1-1 at Sutton United on Saturday. A Yeovil Town spokesman told Somerset Live that it is ‘business as usual’ at Huish Park with the Glovers preparing for Saturday’s trip to Eastleigh.

Elsewhere, Woking slammed Dagenham & Redbridge’s decision not to send a team to the Laithwaite Community Stadium over the weekend stating: “Woking Football Club can confirm that it is not currently aware of the circumstances which led to the postponement of this match.”

The Daggers’ website unsurprisingly stated the match was postponed: “Due to concerns over COVID-19.”
