Alan Pardew keeps Newcastle’s form in perspective

United have won their last three games heading into today’s lunchtime clash with Liverpool at St James’s Park.

It has been a remarkable turnaround for the club and Pardew, who faced relentless calls for his sacking at the start of last month.

Wednesday’s League Cup victory at Manchester City increased the positive mood on Tyneside, but Pardew insists Newcastle have achieved nothing yet this season.

And he says his side will have to “fight like hell” if they are to make it four wins in a row against Brendan Rodgers’ team today.

Pardew said: “It’s accentuated even more at this club, and I do think there is a ‘law of our land’ in the North-East.

“I’ve tried to cut through a little bit and keep a consistency with what’s going on.

“I think we have to learn that as a squad, and I said to the squad after the Man City game that probably on social media and everything, it’s now going to be, ‘We’ve got the best young players in the country and we’ve got a great chance of winning the cup’.

“Yet really and truly we’ve had two great results away from home and that’s our season.

“Let’s just keep it in perspective and fight like hell against Liverpool. That’s what we intend to do.”
