Ferreyra no closer to Newcastle debut

FACUNDO Ferreyra is seemingly no closer to making his debut – almost five months into his Newcastle United career.

The striker signed for Newcastle in early August on a season-long loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

And United manager Alan Pardew is not certain when the 23-year-old will be ready to make his competitive senior debut.

Asked if Ferreyra was any closer to making his debut, Pardew said: “We will have to wait and see.”

Ayoze Perez, another of the club’s summer signings, has already made a significant impact at Newcastle.

The 21-year-old forward, signed as one for the future, has scored four goals.

Pardew said: “I think if you said at start of the year he would be in this position, I would have said that was unlikely.

“His physical improvement has been immense. He was already technically accomplished.

“His physical attributes and mentality in games have improved massively.”
