Newcastle hope to sign MK Dons’ Dele Alli

MK Dons are willing to sell the 18-year-old midfielder – if the buying club loans him back for the rest of the season.

Alli – who has scored 12 goals for the League One club so far this season – will cost around £4m

The Milton Keynes-born player has been watched regularly by United’s chief scout Graham Carr, who is based in the Midlands.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson was tight-lipped about Alli’s likely destination after the club’s 5-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

Robinson said: “We just don’t know because there are so many permutations of that.

“It’s not how we do our business, and we have to make sure that we do right by him.

“He’s in the midst of all his talk, and for him to keep to his level of football with all the hype around him shows you how much of a unique individual he is.

“He deserves all the success that we know he’s going to get.”

Newcastle have also been in discussions with Racing Santander and Sporting Gijon over deals for David Concha and Jorge Mere respectively.

With the Spanish transfer window having closed on Friday night, the moves will not happen until the summer.

Forward Concha and defender Mere are both rated in the £1m-bracket, and the teenage pair are understood to be keen to follow in the footsteps of Spanish countryman Ayoze Perez and join Newcastle.

Otherwise, head coach John Carver does not expect any movement in or out of St James’s Park.

Asked last week if he expected the club to do any business, Carver said: “I wouldn’t have thought so, no.”

The club have warned Moussa Sissoko’s suitors that it would take a “ridiculous” bid for the midfielder to leave United in this transfer window.
