Newcastle’s Perez wants more goals
Perez netted in yesterday’s 3-2 home win over Everton.
And the strike took the 21-year-old’s goal tally for the season to five.
Midfielder Cheik Tiote won possession and passed to Perez, who created space for himself inside the box and rolled the ball past Joel Robles, his Spanish countryman.

Asked if he thought he would make such an impact, Perez said: “I couldn’t know it.
“Five goals is a good number, and most importantly I feel good on the pitch and with my team-mates.
“I must keep going and score more goals for the team.”
The result, which came after four successive league and cup defeats, lifted Newcastle up to ninth in the Premier League table.

“We were good on the pitch, and it was a good result.”
Perez, signed from Tenerife in the summer, felt it was a “special” moment when he scored to put United into a 2-1 lead.
“The most important thing was the victory of the team,” said Perez, who is now focused on the New Year’s Day home game against Burnley.
“My goal came from a tackle from Tiote. He passed to me and I controlled the ball and I scored.
“It’s special for me. It’s a good atmosphere.
“It’s one more goal for me, and three points for the team.
“Now it’s Burnley on Thursday, and we must win again.”
