Three in but Sissoko to leave at Newcastle United?

The club is hopeful of concluding deals for Spanish teenagers David Concha and Jorge Mere as well as MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli.

Concha, 18, is a forward with Racing Santander, while 17-year-old Mere is a centre-half with Sporting Gijon.

But none would kick a ball for United this season – as they would be loaned back to the selling clubs for the rest of the campaign.

And of more immediate concern is Sissoko’s keenness to play for a “very big club”.

In an interview with Foot Mercato, the midfielder said: “Everybody knows my agent.

“So if there is something, they will call him directly. Everything that is going on or not, I leave it to my agent.

“I don’t tell myself that I absolutely want to leave or not. If it is going to happen, then it will. I am good at Newcastle. I continue to work hard so that I have the opportunity one day to play for a very big club.”

Asked about speculation linking him with Paris Saint-Germain, Sissoko said: “My aim was to come to England, because, for me, it is the league that corresponds the best to my style of play and where I think I can enjoy myself the most.

“I don’t think that I was wrong. I want to to stay here and play for one of big clubs in England.

“After that, you never know what might happen tomorrow, but I would prefer to stay in the Premier League.”

Asked about the prospect of leaving United this month, he added: “It doesn’t just depend on me.

“I am under contract with Newcastle.

If a club wants me, they need to discuss with my agent and my club.

“Will the club be willing to let me leave?

There are a lot of things that enter the equation. My aim is to play for the biggest clubs.

“After that, it doesn’t just depend on me. The interested club needs to speak to Newcastle, with my agent, so that everyone can reach an agreement.”

Sissoko – who refused to speak to Tyneside-based journalists after the club’s last game – added that he was keen to play Champions League football.

In a rare interview last week, Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley was asked about the prospect of any players leaving St James’s Park in this month’s transfer window.

Charnley said: “I would say we’re very difficult sellers. We make it very difficult for people to get our players.

“As we sit here today I can’t envisage any player we want to retain leaving.”

Meanwhile, Concha has already visited St James’s Park and United’s training ground.

Newcastle’s Ayoze Perez, signed from Tenerife last summer, showed Concha and his parents around the club’s facilities and the city.

The proposed deal for Concha was close to being struck before Alan Pardew’s departure late last month, and Charnley will attempt to finalise it after appointing John Carver as head coach until the end of the season.

There was one move out of the club yesterday, with defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa’s move to AS Roma having been made permanent after his 20th loan appearance.

Roma revealed that Newcastle will net £5.5m from the deal.

The club also confirmed that 17-year-old forward Callum Roberts had signed a professional deal at St James’s Park.

Roberts has signed a three-and-a-half year contract.

“It’s only recently that I was in the stands at St. James’s Park as a supporter, so to be playing here is a dream come true,” said Roberts.
