Clubs in League One and League Two can still complete deals, loan and permanent, before September 2, meaning players could still leave the Riverside this summer. The most likely outcome is that some of Boro's youngsters will be sent out on loan, with head coach Jonathan Woodgate keen to aid their development. Here are nine players who could still make a loan switch:
5. Nathan Wood
Still only 17, it may be better for Wood to continue his development at Boro for another year. Even so, the central defender has already made four senior appearances for the Teessiders, including one in the Carabao Cup earlier this month. Photo: Matthew Lewis
6. Djed Spence
Another player who featured regularly for the under-23s last season but who doesn't quite seem ready for the first team. The 19-year-old right-back made his senior debut for Boro in the Carabao Cup last season. Photo: JPI Media
7. Stephen Walker
The highly-rated forward, 18, made his league debut at Blackburn last weekend. Walker was loaned out to MK Dons in League Two last season where he made seven league appearances. Photo: David Price
8. Nathan Dale
After joining Boro at the age of nine, the central defender, now 19, featured for the senior side during pre-season. Photo: Frank Reid
