Middlesbrough head coach Jonathan Woodgate has already identified players he wants to sign in January and there are plenty of players in the EFL who Boro could consider. Woodgate is keen to bring young players to the Riverside who can help his side play an attacking brand of football. Here are nine players the Teessiders could consider.
5. Mamadou Thiam (Barnsley)
Thiam played a big part in Barnsley's promotion from League One last season, contributing with seven goals and seven assists. He can also play anywhere across the forward line. Photo: Nathan Stirk
6. Callum Camps (Rochdale)
Predominately a central midfielder, the 23-year-old likes to operate in the final third of the pitch. Camps, 23, has been pivotal for Rochdale at the start of this season, adding more goals and assists to his game. Photo: OLI SCARFF
7. Marcus Maddison (Peterborough)
Another player who is into the final year of his contract. The playmaker has already been involved in eight league goals this season, registering three goals and five assists for Posh. Photo: Alex Pantling
8. Duane Holmes (Derby)
It's been a frustrating start to the season for the 24-year-old who has been absent with a quad injury. Despite an underwhelming start, Derby still have competition for places and Holmes may face a battle to secure a regular starting spot. Photo: Alex Livesey
