Here's what our Hartlepool United writer Robbie Stelling made of the Pools players as they came from behind to edge a seven-goal thriller against Southend.

1. Nick Hayes: 6
A mixed evening against his former side, will have been disappointed with his role in the opening goal but recovered well and made a string of fine saves, denying the likes of Harry Boyes and Leon Chambers-Parillon. Photo: FRANK REID

2. Jack Hunter: 6
Failed to clear the ball in the lead up to Southend's opening goal but grew into the game and finished strongly, bringing possession out of defence well on a couple of occasions. Photo: FRANK REID

3. Maxim Kouogun: 6
Started poorly, losing possession in a dangerous position on the edge of his box before getting caught underneath a lofted ball forward with Andrew Dallas poised to capitalise but improved thereafter and made a series of important interventions in the second half. Photo: Frank Reid

4. Reiss McNally: 7
Was dragged out of position on several occasions in the opening stages but was excellent after being moved to wing-back. Photo: FRANK REID
