Pools currently sit one point off the final play-off place and five points behind third-placed Boreham Wood, a side they travel to on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

But with just six points separating 13th and third in the table, Challinor is wary that things could quickly turn around over the next week or so.

“The table looks different to what it did and is now stacked up but that doesn’t change my perspective of where we need to be,” he said.

“We could be sat in a position next where the table looks completely different from what it does now.

“There are 11 games left and we need to win seven which is a big ask, but it’s doable.

“If we got that and didn’t get in the play-offs I’d be very disappointed. Around 70-ish will be around where we need to be. We’ve got the momentum and we’ve got to make sure we ride that.”

Pools have lost just one of their last seven matches and go into Saturday’s match at Meadow Park on the back of consecutive victories at Victoria Park.

Now they must find a way to win away from home in order to mount a serious play-off push.

“You’d love to think we can win 11 games on the spin and I know if we do that we’ll be right in the mix,” Challinor smirked.

“Realistically, we’ll probably lose a game or two but it’s important how we bounce back from that.

“As much as winning consecutively is important, not losing consecutively is just as important. It gives us great spirit and belief going into two really tough games, different challenges and systems to come up against.

“We need to show our adaptability in terms of what we’ve got to do against different opponents as well as what we’ve done previously that’s worked. We want to have Boreham Wood and Solihull worry about us as a team because we’ve got plenty of threats ourselves and I believe we’re finally getting to a point where we deserve to be.”
