Tranmere loan player Scott Fenwick back at Hartlepool United, Scott Harrison to miss rest of season with injury

But the news is not so good for another Scott, Harrison, who looks set to miss the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has a protective boot on his left leg and is walking with the aid of crutches after being injured in training.

It is a blow to the former Sunderland centre-half while, for Fenwick, there may be a slight chink of light.

Pools boss Craig Hignett is currently taking a look at players in his squad he is yet to get a close examination of.

Last night, he made five changes to his starting XI for the home match with Accrington, promotion-chasing Stanley inflicting the first Victoria Park defeat under Hignett in the last six home games.

“Scott Fenwick is back at the club and won’t be returning to Tranmere,” explained Hignett. “Unfortunately, Scott Harrison had a bit of an accident in training.

“He landed awkwardly and damaged his foot. It looks like he’ll miss the rest of the season.”

Hignett has only three games left to view Fenwick, who has made just two sub appearances during the manager’s tenure.

He remains the joint second top scorer – with Jake Gray – so he could get some League Two exposure in the remaining games against Oxford (a), Portsmouth (h) and Plymouth (a).

Hignett is likely to keep trying players though there was clearly some disappointment last night at how his experiments against Accrington went.

“I had a proper look,” said Hignett. “There were people who did what I thought they would do and people who have had a right go.

“As I’ve said before, the least I expect from a player is him having a right go.

“There were some positives, I thought Josh Laurent came into the game after a nervy start.

“I’ve had a look last night and I know what I can do and can’t do.”

Hignett felt his side came up short, overall, against a good Stanley team, who climbed to second in the League Two table.

“All round I thought we were just off it last night,” he admitted..

“Whatever we did, whether it was the closing down, the passing, the final third play, the free-kicks, we were just that little bit off it.

“If only one player is off it, it makes a massive difference.

“So when you have three, four or five [off their game] then you have no chance of staying in the match.”
