Dave Challinor was keen to arrange a behind closed doors friendly for his players this week but the decision to suspend National League fixtures due to the coronavirus outbreak has limited options in terms of opposition.

As a result, 22 first-team players, including Michael Raynes, new signing Lorne Bickley and out on loan pair Jason Kennedy and Aaron Cunningham were split into two sides to go up against each other.

“We’ll just carry on as normal,” Challinor said. “In regards to what we do with training protocols and what people can do are likely to be taken out of our hands moving forward.

“There will be some uncertainty but after that, you want people to make decisions for you because that makes the situation easier.”
