Pulis wasn’t the only one who left the Riverside, though, after several players were allowed to leave Teesside while others returned to their parent clubs after signing for Boro on loan. 6. Dimi Konstantopoulos - Free agent
After six years at the Riverside, the Greek shot-stopper was released at the end of last season. Now 40, Konstantopoulos has trained with former side Hartlepool but is still without a club. Photo: Nigel Roddis
7. John Obi Mikel - Trabzonspor
Like Downing, Mikel was released before Woodgate's appointment. In truth, it is unlikely the Nigerian would have signed a new contract due to his desire to play European football again. The midfielder is now playing in Turkey for Trabzonspor, where he has started three of five league games and played in the Europa League. Photo: George Wood
8. Jordan Hugill - QPR
Following a frustrating spell at Boro last term, Hugill returned to parent club West Ham before joining QPR on loan. He has started this season in red-hot form and is one of the division's top scorers with five league goals in eight appearances. Photo: Alex Pantling
