But with no cut at the first event of the European Tour’s Final Series, there is scope for Storm to make further progress through the field.

The Poolie had a roller coaster ride at the 7,607-yard Lake Malaren course yesterday.

Teeing off at the 10th, he made the perfect start with four birdies in his first six holes.

Threes at the 11th and 16th sandwiched fours at the 13th and 15th as he moved under par for the first time since the opening hole on day one.

But it did not last for long as he bogeyed the par four 18th for the second day in succession.

Further bogey fives followed at fifth and sixth, the latter being a double bogey at the 202-yard par three.

After being four under through his first six holes, the Hartlepool golf club member found himself on level par with just three holes to play.

However, Storm earns top marks for character as well as skill as he responded a with a birdie four at the second longest hole at the course, the 568-yard seventh.

And a three at the par four ninth ensured he signed for a two-under-par 70.

2012 Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts was out in font after a superb 64 at Lake Malaren.

It put the Belgian on 14 under, one stroke ahead of France’s Alexander Levy who added a 66 to his opening 65.

France’s Romain Wattel was two shots further back on 11 under, with Marcel Siem, Branden Grace and Emiliano Grillo all 10 under and Thomas Bjorn alone in seventh another shot adrift.
