See Great Britain athletes and hundreds more take part in Hartlepool's Big Lime Triathlon

Hundreds of people, including several British athletes took to the streets of Hartlepool on Sunday to take part in the Big Lime Triathlon event.

Matthew Phillips from Sun City Triathlon Club posted the fastest time of the day, finishing the course in 01:03:27.

Colin Robson from NE31 Triathlon Club and Matthew Turnbull from Tri-Life Triathlon team made up the top three.

Natasha Sinha from the Leeds Triathlon Centre was the first female to cross the line with a time of 01:08:12.

Overall, 305 entered the event, which was full to capacity, of which 244 competed on the day.

Daniel Garthwaite, Senior Sport and Physical Activity Co-ordinator with Hartlepool Borough Council said:

“The race saw a range of people competing from complete novices to club and GB athletes which is great to see. Also, transition altered on to the grassed area off Maritime Avenue which was much more effective and competitors were impressed with registration and the presentation which took place in Mecca Bingo.
