Savannah Marshall opponent Femke Hermans pulls out of WBO world title fight

The Hartlepool-born puncher was set to make the first defence of her WBO middleweight title against Femke Hermans on the undercard of Conor Benn v Samuel Vargas this weekend.

Hermans has withdrawn from their title bout after her coach tested positive for COVID-19.

Indeed, Marshall, 29, provided an update on the situation on social media.

"Arrived in the bubble today for my fight on Saturday,” she said.

"My original opponent had pulled out due to her coach’s testing positive for covid (can honestly say Iv been there) hoping her team a speedy recovery.

“@matchroomboxing are hoping to get a replacement for me to still compete.”

Marshall ran into this same issue last year when trainer Peter Fury’s positive ahead of her clash with. Hannah Rankin.

However, the pair managed to reschedule two weeks later with Marshall winning the fight and her first world title.
