Savannah Marshall's new opponent revealed following Femke Hermans COVID-19 pull-out
Savannah Marshall has a new opponent for Saturday’s Matchroom show.
The Hartlepool-born puncher was set to make the first defence of her WBO middleweight title against Femke Hermans on the undercard of Conor Benn v Samuel Vargas this weekend.
But Hermans withdrew from their title bout after her coach tested positive for COVID-19.
Marshall will now defend the strap, which she won from Hannah Rankin, against four-time world title challenger Maria Lindberg on Saturday.
Indeed, Marshall, 29, provided an update on the situation on social media.
"Arrived in the bubble today for my fight on Saturday,” she said.
"My original opponent had pulled out due to her coach’s testing positive for covid (can honestly say Iv been there) hoping her team a speedy recovery.
“@matchroomboxing are hoping to get a replacement for me to still compete.”
The Benn-Vargas undercard and main event will be shown on Sky Sports Action.
