Little Mix cancel UK summer tour saying safety is 'number one priority' during coronavirus outbreak

Little Mix have announced that this summer’s headline tour has been cancelled as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The four-piece confirmed the cancellation in a statement issued on social media on Wednesday, April 22.

Due to launch in June and run for around a month, the summer tour would have brought the girls to Durham Emirates Riverside on Thursday, July 16 for a North East date.

They last played at the same venue in 2017 to a sold-out crowd.

Little Mix’s statement urged fans to “stay safe and stay home” during the lockdown – and added that the safety of fans and crew was the group’s “number one priority”.

“We are so sad to announce that following the latest Government advice, we have to cancel our upcoming UK Summer Tour.

Formed in 2011 on the X Factor, Little Mix became the first group to ever win a series of the talent show.

The 21-date tour was set to take the girls to a range of outdoor venues across June and July, including a date at British Summer Time festival in London’s Hyde Park.
