What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is the informal name given to the shopping extravaganza that takes place the day after Thanksgiving, which falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. This year, Black Friday is on November 29, 2019.

Amazon was one of the first major companies to adopt Black Friday sales back in 2010 and is credited with bringing the tradition to the UK and Ireland. Now, most high street and online retailers take part in the custom.
