5. Haltwhistle Swimming and Leisure Centre

6. Headland Block Sands paddling pool, Hartlepool
This plodge spot at the Headland Block Sands paddling pool is seasonal and is open up until September 2, 2019. It is off South Crescent and has a view across the sea to the south. Photo: Frank Reid.
7. Ridley Park, Blyth

8. Allen Banks and Staward Gorge, Hexham
Find the pebble beach along the River Allen and enjoy a picnic and a dip. There are shallow sections across large areas of smooth rocks for a paddle and deep sections ideal for a few short bursts of breast stroke. Photo: Fiona Thompson
