It was lights, camera, action in Hartlepool as an ITV film crew set up camp for the day.

Work on a drama series for the channel was taking place at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Hartlepool on Tuesday - and we popped along to see what action we could capture on our own camera.

Numerous vehicles were set up in the attraction’s car park, while actors in Victorian costume were spotted out and about in the grounds of the museum.

Horses and an old-style carriage were also seen outside.

Museum staff were unable to confirm what the filming was for - but Hartlepool has previously hosted the cast and crew of ITV’s hit show Victoria, which is into its third season.

The star of the show, Jenna Coleman, shared some pictures on her Instagram story on Tuesday showing the HMS Trincomalee.

She captioned the pictures with “work” and the clapper board emoji.
