The Government has announced plans for the reopening of various non-essesntial shops from June 15 including fashion stores, charity shops, betting shops and mobile phone stores.

Some stores at Middleton Grange that previously closed during the lockdown are now open again including Cooplands bakery and TJ Hughes.

Middleton Grange says even when stores do reopen they must ensure social distancing is possible for all customers and staff.

Parking charges are not currently in operation at the shopping centre’s car parks but the multi-storey remains closed.

People are advised to check individual store open times before visiting Middleton Grange.

Gift shops in museums, retail spaces in theatres, libraries, heritage sites and tourism sites will also be allowed to open from June 15, Boris Johnson announced on Monday, May 25.

But ministers have stressed that could change if reductions in coronavirus infection rates fail to meet expectations.

A number of food and drink outlets have reopened across Hartlepool in recent weeks including drive-thru takeaways.
