The Shots had fallen behind to Niko Muir's first half effort, but levelled through Matt McClure after the interval before peppering the Pools goal in the search of a winner.

Indeed, Aldershot thought they had claimed a late winner when Luke Howell's overhead kick bounced down on the line after hitting the bar - Cole claiming that his teammates felt it was in.

"The one of the bar, we've heard off the boys it was behind the line," he said, speaking to Aldershot's official website.

"But overall, it's a good performance and we're pleased with that.

Muir, who recovered from a knock in midweek to feature at the Super 6 Stadium, opened the scoring with an effort which the home faithful felt was a well-taken effort.

"No, not at all," said the keeper, when asked if Muir meant the effort.

"I was set for a shot and he side-footed it for a cross to the back stick.

"It was frustrating because it was a cross, if anything, and it's just lobbed straight over in the back stick."
