Boy in ‘very poorly condition’ after van collision in Hartlepool’s Easington Road

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after the 12-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a collision in Hartlepool.
The incident happened at around 5.20pm on Saturday, November 20, on Easington Road, near to Miller Crescent, and also involved a grey Ford Transit van.

Hide AdThe North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said it sent an ambulance, a rapid response, a specialist paramedic and an officer to the scene and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance doctor.


The boy was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) with a serious head injury and broken leg. He remains there in a very poorly condition, whilst receiving treatment.
The Great North Air Ambulance said their team were called to the incident just after 5.30pm and attended in a rapid response vehicle.
A spokesperson said: “Our team were activated at 5.32pm to reports of a road traffic collision in Hartlepool.

Hide Ad"They arrived on scene at 5.56pm. It was a paramedic and a doctor. They assessed and treated a patient on scene.”
A spokesperson for NEAS added: "We were called at 17:16 to reports of a road traffic collision between a child and a car on Easington Road in Hartlepool.
"The child was taken to the RVI in Newcastle with serious injuries."
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has footage is asked to contact PC Dan Waugh, from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on 101, quoting incident number 197909.
