Arrest made after police vehicle 'rammed' in Hartlepool pursuit

Cleveland Police officers have made an arrest following an alleged pursuit in Hartlepool, which resulted in a force vehicle being damaged.

A 21-year-old man was brought into police custody on Thursday, May 6 by the force as part of ongoing inquiries into the incident.

Cleveland Police confirmed on Friday, May 7 that the man, who was arrested in East Durham, has been interviewed and since released under caution.

Inquiries are ongoing.

The incident was reported to have happened in Hartlepool last month – on April 11 – with a police officer suffering minor injuries after a force vehicle was “twice reverse-rammed” by a car.

A statement on the incident said: “It was reported that on the afternoon of Sunday, April 11 a black Vauxhall Corsa twice reverse-rammed a police vehicle, causing minor injury to officers and minor damage to the vehicle.

“The man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, disqualified driving and driving with no insurance.”
