Footage shows youths throwing fireworks at each other on Hartlepool street

The incident happened on the junction of Raby Street and Chester Road at 9.10pm on Saturday, October 24, and was captured on CCTV set up to monitor the area.
A number of teenage boys can be seen gathering, while one lights a rocket after finishing a phone conversation while standing on Chester Road.

Hide AdThe pyrotechnic fires towards a terrace of houses, before ricocheting towards the junction of Raby Road, where it continues to spark of a series of flares and a trail of smoke.
When police arrived to investigate, they found group of around 40 youths gathered in the play area, with “foul language and insulting gestures” used when approached by officers.
A spokesperson for the force today, Monday, October 26, confirmed an inquiry had been launched into the incident on Saturday night.

Hide AdThey said: “At 9.25pm on Saturday we received a call from a member of the public reporting a group of three or four teenage boys had set off a firework in the Raby Road area of Hartlepool.
"Officers attended and searched the surrounding areas but were unfortunately unable to locate the people described.
"We would remind people this antisocial behaviour is also extremely dangerous and it could lead to serious injury or worse.
"Please contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number quoting Ref 175139 if you have any information.”

Hide AdIn connection with the Hartfields disorder, the force said: "Any youths located inside of this area that are seen to be causing antisocial behaviour or likely to be causing anti social behaviour, including setting off fireworks, will be asked to leave immediately and not return, failure to comply will result in repercussions.
“Parents please be vigilant and check on where your children are.
“We have stressed the importance of educating your children to the dangers of fireworks and also the importance of conducting themselves in the correct manner regarding the current government legislation around the Covid-19 pandemic.”
