Four arrests made after 'significant amount of cash' stolen in armed raid at Barclays Bank in Hartlepool

The three men aged 39, 42 and 49 and a 39-year-old woman, who are all from the Hartlepool area, were arrested after a man allegedly made off with a 'significant’ amount of cash from Barclays Bank on York Road on Friday, June 12.

No one was injured as a result of the incident, which took place at 10.10am.

It was not known how much money was taken or what the alleged robber was armed with.

Police appealed for information and officers carried out a large-scale search of the area in the hours afterwards.

A large presence of investigators was seen in Huxley Walk in the Rift House area of the town, with marked traffic patrol cars and vans used to close off access to the street from Bennett Road.

A fourth man in his twenties was arrested but he was later released without charge.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Three men and a woman remain in police custody this morning in connection with an armed robbery at Barclays Bank on York Road, Hartlepool, which took place yesterday morning.

Officers arrested three men aged 39, 42 and 49 and a 39-year-old woman, who are all from the Hartlepool area, yesterday.
