Hartlepool murder suspect Callum Howe appears at Teesside Crown Court after death of Mohammed Shaan Ali Rasul
A suspect accused of the murder of a 23-year-old man has made his first appearance at crown court today.
Callum Howe, 22, is charged with murdering Mohammed Shaan Ali Rasul, who was also known as Shaan Rasul, at a house in Allerton Close, off Milbank Road, Hartlepool, after Mr Rasul’s body was discovered on Sunday, November 23.
Howe was one of two suspects quickly arrested and was remanded in custody after appearing at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The second man, who is aged 23, was released on conditional bail while Cleveland Police inquiries continue.

Howe appeared at Teesside Crown Court, in Middlesbrough, by videolink on Thursday from Stockton’s Holme House Prison.
A trial date was set for May 26 next year.
Howe, who gave his address as Allerton Close at the earlier court hearing, is next due back at court on December 12 when he may be asked to enter a plea.
The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Francis Laird, remanded him in custody until then.
Detectives and paramedics rushed to Allerton Close after the alarm was raised at about 11am on Sunday.
Part of the street was sealed off while inquiries began.
This cordon was later reduced to police tape surrounding the entrance to three adjoining doors.
In a statement released earlier this week, Mr Rasul’s sister described her brother as having “the biggest heart a man could ever have”.
