Trio appear in court charged with murder of Hartlepool dad Hemwand Ali Hussein

Three men accused of the murder of a Hartlepool dad are facing a trial of six to eight weeks.

The men, who appeared in court with Kurdish, Albanian and Greek interpreters, are charged with murdering Hemwand Ali Hussain, 30, whose body was found in a house in Charterhouse Street, Hartlepool, on September 14 last year.

Three of the men accused of Mr Hussain’s murder appeared in court today, while a fourth man who has also been charged was not required to appear.

The accused men who appeared in custody today at Teesside Crown Court are Noza Saffari, 38, of Park Lane, Middlesbrough, Dorian Pirija, 23, of Trillo Avenue, Bolton, Greater Manchester, and Anxhelo Xhaferi, 24, of Acton Street, Middlesbrough.

A fourth man Florian Marku has appeared earlier at Teesside Crown Court also charged with the murder but he was not involved or mentioned in today’s court proceedings.

The prosecutor in the case, Peter Makepeace QC said that there was a time estimate for the trial of between six to eight weeks.

The judge Mr Justice Goss told the court: “The suggestion was that the trial was possibly starting on the 2nd or 3rd of June.

”But the trial date will be deferred for the moment.”

The family of Mr Hussain said in a statement after his death: “We are deeply saddened by the death of our partner and father Hemwand, and we request that we are left to grieve in peace at this extremely difficult time.”
