Two men charged following armed robbery at Hartlepool Barclays Bank

Two men have been charged after an armed robbery in broad daylight at Hartlepool Barclays Bank.

Cleveland Police were called to Barclays Bank, in York Road, at 10.10am on Friday, June 12, where a man had made off with a ‘significant’ amount of cash.

Three men aged 39, 42 and 49 and a 39-year-old woman, who are all from the Hartlepool area, were initially arrested in connection with the incident.

Two men have now been charged with offences linked to the incident and will appear before Teesside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, June 15).

A man, aged 42, has been charged with robbery, possession of a Class A drug and possession of an imitation firearm.

While a second man, aged 49, has been charged with robbery.

A 39-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
