Woman due in court over death of Hartlepool pensioner

A woman is due in court after she was charged in connection with the death of a pensioner following a collision.

Jetta Jowsey, 86, was described as a “dearly loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother” after her death in hospital following an incident involving a car in Hartlepool 24 hours earlier.

She had been rushed to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, for treatment to injuries following the collision at the junction of Oxford Road and Shrewsbury Street on Friday, November 1, last year.

Lisa Armstrong, 39, of Hartlepool, has since been charged with causing death by careless driving.

Armstrong, from the town’s Ardrossan Road, is due before Teesside Magistrates’ Court, in Middlesbrough, on Tuesday, September 22.

Mrs Jowsey was survived by her four children, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
