Members are being encouraged to get out across all wards in the town and do their bit to clean up litter.

Another of the ‘BBTU’s projects is the ward by ward clean-up and they have already tackled Jesmond and Throston; the Marina; Burn Valley; De Brus and Headland areas.

More than 170 bags of litter collected so far, and around 30 people have been turning out to join in the mass clean-up each time.

Now comes the news of the mass tidy-up planned for Sunday, November 1. Officials are hoping the effort will add to the group’s impressive efforts of having collected almost 10,000 bags of rubbish.
