Firefighters called to Cleveland Road after blaze at former Hartlepool care home

Crews have been called to a blaze at a former care home in the town.

Crews were called to Admiral Court in Cleveland Road just before 8.30 pm on Monday, June 14 after fire broke out at the reception area of the disused care home.

Three fire engines were sent and crews used one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus, a thermal image camera and positive pressure ventilation fan.

There was a “100% fire damage” to the reception area, according to the fire brigade’s incidents page.

The blaze was contained by 9.12 pm when crews left the scene.

Cleveland Fire Brigade said: "We were called at 8.20 this evening.

"Three fire engines attended and extinguished the fire.

"All appliances left the scene at 9.12 pm.”

Admiral Court, which specialised in nursing care, closed in mid-2015, after inspectors found a number of failings.

Residents had to move out and a number of staff lost their jobs. The home was run by Four Winds Care Ltd which went into liquidation.

The reason for the fire is not known at present.
