Hartlepool nurse shortlisted for regional prize at Great British Care Awards
A nurse supporting adults with learning disabilities has been recognised for his dedication to helping people live fulfilling lives..
Tony Miller, who works at Hope House, a Cygnet Social Care service in Hutton Avenue, has been shortlisted in the social care nurse award category at the Great British Care Awards for the North East.

The award celebrates exceptional nurses working in social care who demonstrate outstanding person-centred care, leadership and a commitment to improving people’s lives.
For Tony, some of the most rewarding moments in his work come from seeing residents grow in confidence, achieve their personal goals and enjoy experiences they may once have thought were beyond their reach.
He also takes pride in supporting colleagues to develop their skills and confidence.
Tony said: “In terms of what I enjoy most about my job, it's often the little things that mean the most to me.
“Seeing residents happy, watching their confidence grow and witnessing them achieve things that perhaps once seemed out of reach is incredibly rewarding. I also really enjoy supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and seeing them develop in confidence and flourish in their roles.
“For me, knowing I've made even a small positive difference to someone's life is what makes the job worthwhile.
“As for being shortlisted, I must admit it came as a complete surprise, particularly as I don't know who nominated me or what they said.
“I've never really been someone who seeks recognition for what I do, so it's quite humbling to think that somebody has taken the time to put me forward..”
Hope House, part of the Cygnet Social Care division, provides specialist residential support for adults with learning disabilities.
The regional awards ceremony will take place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle, in November
