Letter of the week: 'Hartlepool land should be kept for future of our hospital'

I read the article (Mail, August 13) about Hartlepool Constituency Labour Party passing an emergency motion objecting to a health village being built on land on the University Hospital of Hartlepool site.

Our writer is concerned by plans for a health village in Hartlepool.

After reading the article, I feel allowing any houses on this site would set a precedent for future years.

This land should be retained at all cost for any extensions to the existing hospital or a re-builld.

The North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust has the land and an excellent hospital, which needs to be in full operation as soon as possible.

We had bad weather early in the year, and cancellations of operations and appointments because of staff living out of town and not able to get into work.

I feel we should have accommodation for staff and surgeons who cannot travel due to bad weather, keeping the hospital in full swing.

I cannot understand why the nurses’ accommodation was demolished.
