With pantomimes, church services, concerts and festivals, there is so much going on to enjoy.
Here are 11 events taking place over the yuletide period to attend and join in with.
1. Hartlepool Wintertide Festival
The Headland will be lit up for festive markets, performances and fireworks at the fifth annual Hartlepool Wintertide Festival. This year's festival begins on Friday, November 22, with a community parade and ends with a sparkling fireworks display on Sunday, November 24.

2. Santa's Grotto at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre
Santa Claus arrives at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, on Sunday, November 17. Father Christmas will be in his grotto, sponsored by Miles for Men, until Christmas Eve.
Tickets are £3 per child, which includes a visit and present.

3. Alice House Hospice Trees of Remembrance
Place a bauble with a personalised message on a Christmas tree in memory of lost loved ones in return for a donation to Alice House at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre throughout the festive period.

4. Boxing Day Dip
Blow away the cobwebs with a refreshing dip in the North Sea at Seaton Carew in this year's Boxing Day Dip organised by Hartlepool Round Table.
The dip raises thousands of pounds for charities each year.
