Hartlepool Power Station pair raise thousands for Alzheimer's Society with Coast-to-Coast Walk
A pair of workers from Hartlepool Power Station have completed an incredible challenge to raise thousands for charity.
Jack Coombs and Matty Secker took on the famous Coast-to-Coast Walk from St Bees, in Cumbria, to Robin Hood’s Bay, in North Yorkshire, completing an impressive 300km in just 12 days.
The pair have raised more than £2,500 on behalf of the Alzheimer's Society, which is the corporate charity partner of power station operator EDF.
Since 2024, EDF sites nationwide have raised more than £600,000 for the cause.

The funds raised will help support individuals and families affected by dementia while contributing to vital research and support services.
Both walkers have thanked everyone who has supported them with their trek.
Maintenance group head Jack said: “It was a huge challenge, both physically and mentally, and there were some long days and sore legs along the way. But doing it together and knowing we were raising money for such an important cause gave us the motivation to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
There are an estimated 982,000 people living with dementia in the UK with Alzheimer's disease accounting for up to 80% of these cases.
Matty, who is a technical advice engineer, added: “It was a fully enjoyable experience that I would encourage anyone to do, not only for a physical challenge but for a break from the routine and a chance to clear your head.
“We live in a beautiful country and most people do not choose to see it.”
