'I feel so sorry for them' - Hartlepool woman with 'spooky' similarities to Harry and Meghan gives her view on Oprah interview

Rebecca and Chris Porritt, from Hartlepool, tied the knot in front of 80 family and friends on May 19, 2018, at around the same time as millions of television viewers were watching Harry and Meghan were getting wed at Windsor Castle.

Both women gave then birth to their first children in 2019 – Meghan to Archie in May and Rebecca to Ava in July – and both are now pregnant again.

Rebecca, 31, who is due to give birth in August, said: “It is all a bit spooky.

"We got married on the same day, announced we were pregnant around the same time, had our first child not long after each other and now it’s happening all over again.”

Rebecca and Chris, 33, who works for a joinery firm, sat down on Monday night like millions of other United Kingdom television viewers to watch the Royal couple’s controversial interview with talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

The Sussexes discussed mental health, racism, their relationship with the rest of the Royal Family and the reasons behind moving to first Canada and now California.

Full-time mum Rebecca said: “I felt sorry them. I know not everyone will but I know I do, particularly given that she is pregnant.

"We were both shocked at what we were hearing about what they have been through and I was nearly in tears because my emotions are everywhere at the moment.”

Yet Rebecca, who said she “gets on really well” with her own inlaws, also confessed: “I have not had a chance to watch it all yet as I had to go to bed as it’s an early start with Ava.

"We’ll hopefully watch the rest soon on catch up TV.”

While no official date is confirmed for when Meghan is due to give birth, it is expected to be before Rebecca and Chris’s second child arrives.

The Hartlepool couple, who were married at St Mary Magdalene Church, in Hart, also have one other royal connection – they started going out after meeting at the town’s King Johns Tavern.
