The Mail launched a search to find Hartlepool’s cutest and funniest pets back in April and of all the entries, it was four-year-old Shortie who won readers’ hearts.

Jane Voss, who lives in Clavering with husband Stephen and children Darci and Ethan, welcomed Shortie into the family's home as a pup.

Known as ‘Naughty Shortie’ – the mischievous hound is ‘the biggest thief ever’.

He’s got previous for stealing smelly socks and glasses – even pinching the latter off Stephen’s face as he slept!

Jane, 52, said: “He’s just the weirdest-personality dog – he’s like a human. He loves balls, mud, the water – he keeps me very busy.”
