New PDSA charity shop opens in Hartlepool
Hartlepool has a new charity shop on the block selling “a little bit of everything for everybody” at budget prices.
The People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) charity shop, in Catcote Road, Hartlepool, opened its doors for the first time at 10am on Thursday, June 20.
The Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool, Carole Thompson, and her consort, Phil Holbrook, attended the opening to cut the ribbon and officially open the store to the public.
PDSA is a national pet charity that takes care of sick and injured pets and provides care to pet owners and families that cannot afford to pay the full pet fees.

Store manager Stephanie Pell said: “We tried to open back in February but due to technical difficulties, we couldn’t open, so we have just been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get it ready.
"We didn’t want to open it when it wasn’t complete.
"We didn’t want to disappoint the Hartlepool community, so we were just waiting for the perfect time – and that’s today.”
The charity shop, based at the Fens shops, sells everything from clothes, shoes and bric-a-brac to games, garden tools and books.

Tens of people turned up for the official opening, and the first 100 lucky customers on the day also received a free goody bag.
Stephanie said: “What is really cool about the PDSA is that we also have a new range, so we’ve got garden items, pet items – anything you could imagine – but new goods as well so there’s a little bit of everything for everybody.”
She added: “We’re very excited. We’re all buzzing here.”
