Proceeds from sales will go to the Mental Health Foundation and has raised more than £600 so far.

Benjamin’s mum Cheryl Picken, of Foggy Furze, said his friends and family are still coming to terms with his death.

Cheryl, 40, who is also mum to two other sons, said: “It’s still quite raw. People are still coming to terms with it.

"We still can’t believe it’s happened.”

She said Benjamin was a bit upset by the lockdown and usual teenage issues, but did not have any serious mental health issues.

Cheryl added: “He was the last kid in the world you would think would do something like that.

"It was so out of character.”

Her brother John, 41, a former club singer who now works as an NHS 111 clinical manager, said he would have liked to stage a charity show for the cause, but the Covid-19 restrictions forced him to think outside the box.

Cover songs on the album include Without You, Don’t Stop Believing and Things Can Only Get Better.

"Some of the songs reflect my own emotions whether they are sad or looking forward,” said John of Northumberland.

"Music is one thing you can do to cheer yourself up.

"Since lockdown suicide rates have increased quite dramatically and Christmas can be a lonely time for a lot of people.”

A Tribute To Benjie is available from several online music apps including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and soon Amazon.
